English Plus Music

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EMERALD CULTURAL INSTITUTE

Together with ECI English language school in Dublin, Ireland, Tutti Music offers an English Plus Music Programme. This combines expert English language tuition with ensemble music training, orchestral instruction and this year is introducing a choral workshop.

International students who are taking English classes in the morning attend for four afternoons per week, Monday to Thursday.

CHORAL WORKSHOP

The choral workshop will cover a wide and varied repertoire involving young singers, both Irish and international, working on ensemble singing skills and vocal technique in an enjoyable and friendly environment.

This fun and dynamic course is designed for students between the ages of 11 and 18 years and offers young singers the opportunity to improve their English, vocal sight reading and singing skills in a two-week programme which culminates in a concert on the last day. The music training and instruction is given by professional musicians, conductors and composers.

During the workshop the choir will work on their pieces and there will be a short break for refreshments and a chance to chat with the music staff and other participants during the afternoon. As the two weeks progress there will be workshops in conducting and solo performance platforms.

Music workshops run from 2:30-4:30 pm Monday to Thursday.

Our tutor on this course is Lucy Champion.

A minimum level of B1 in English is required to attend.

ORCHESTRAL WORKSHOP

Students play music with a professional musician tutoring them. Over the course of the two weeks they learn about ensemble playing and conducting and participate in solo performance platforms where their playing is critiqued by their peers and their tutors. Students are split into small groups of musicians – up to a maximum of 10 students. Groups are defined by age, instrument and ability. Each group works on their set pieces with their music tutor. There will be a short break for refreshments and a chance to chat with the music staff and other participants during the afternoon.

As the two weeks progress the groups come together for workshops in conducting. At the end of the two week programme, all of the players come together for a tutti performance where they give a concert performing the pieces they have learned and also have the opportunity to give solo performances.

Music workshops run from 2:30-4:30 pm Monday to Thursday.

Our music tutors on this programme are Julia Gåsvær, Carla Vedres and Peter Ryan.

A minimum level of B1 in English is required to attend.
